In May 2008, some friends who liked to knit realized that knitting for other people is far more fun than doing it for themselves. Who needs 30 scarves, anyway? They started Close Knit, a small business that sells re-useable knit coffee sleeves in Providence, RI.
All of their profits are donated to the Salvation Army's Good Neighbor Energy Fund, which provides financial assistance to Rhode Island residents to help them pay their utility bills. This includes low-income families and families with unexpected medical bills-- every home should be warm and safe.
